Toting Social Consciousness:

This new bag is a timely addition to our busy lives. A classic version of the tote bag we all use from the gym to the grocery store as a hold-all, this is a bag you can feel proud carrying. We have brought two groups of women together to make this new design.

The women of Sneha, who have been rescued from sex trafficking, have done the block-printing of the bag.

The young women of Shelano, who live in poor communities, have then sewn the material into a bag using the traditional kantha stitch. This stitch has been used for many years by Bengali women to sew together layers of old saris (their traditional dress) into blankets. This tradition has been modernized in the Sari Tote bag.

Purchasing a Sari Tote bag for yourself or as a gift will hopefully be a conversation starter about current socially conscious issues and will support both groups of impoverished women.
